STSM Call Now Open - Deadline extended to 15/03
SCALES is pleased to launch its first call for Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs). The application deadline is 15 March 2026. Successful missions are expected to take place between 7 April 2026 and 30 September 2026.
Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) grants might support:
- Visits of scientists (students and staff) from any SCALES full member country to any other SCALES full member country, as well as to Near Neighbor and International affiliated institutions. We cannot support STSMs to another institute in your country of affiliation
- Duration lengths from a minimum of 5 days to a maximum of 90 days. Early Career Investigators (ECI; PhD less than 8 years ago) and young researchers/innovators (YRI; people younger than 40) might apply for a maximum of 180 days.
- Support can be given for a maximum of 3000 euros (ECI/YRI up to 4000). The maximum support follows the daily allowance in the receiving country, see https://www.cost.eu/uploads/2024/11/2024-Daily-allowance-table.pdf .

Send a notification email to both alicia.sintes@uib.es
and jere.makinen@aalto.fi, with the subject “[CA24139 STSM application] Surname_Name" (replace with your name), containing the following documents in a single pdf format:
- The STSM Grant Application (based on e-COST template)
- A budget justification for your visit;
- A written agreement from the Host Institution that the STSM applicant can travel in the host country, and she/he can perform the activities detailed in the STSM work plan on the agreed dates. Please mention matching funds if applicable.
- The applicant's Curriculum Vitae.
Priority will be given to students, early career researchers, people from underrepresented backgrounds, people traveling to or from ITC countries, and those who have not yet received STSM grants from SCALES, but everyone is encouraged to apply!
